Why Concerned Women PAC Endorses:

Todd Tiahrt truly exemplifies true traditional American values by working hard to protect the family and the unborn child.  He was the author of the “Tiahrt Amendment” on the Foreign Operations act (1998) which prevented US tax dollars from going to places foreign organizations that force sterilization or abortion upon women.  He authored another “Tiahrt Amendment” which provided protection to law enforcement officers by preventing third parties and politically-motivated groups from obtaining sensitive information about ongoing criminal investigations that could jeopardize cases.  He was also the co-sponsor of the Defense of Marriage Act and the Marriage Protection Amendment. 

He not only is a strong social conservative but also a fiscal conservative.  He is the only candidate in the Senate race that has never voted for a tax increase of any kind and has voted against every bailout bill.  He worked hard when he was a leader on the Appropriations Committee to cut out $122.3 billion in spending in the economic stimulus bill and recently introduced a “No More Bailouts” resolution.    

He has truly gained invaluable experience from serving eight terms as a House Representative.  He has become so popular with his constituents that in 2008 he won with a 64% margin.  CWA wants to endorse Todd Tiahrt for the first time because we believe that he will fight hard to protect family values.        

Todd is not the only one in his family who is pro- life. Vicki Tiahrt has a strong pro-life background as well.  She has worked hard on behalf of the unborn by speaking and raising money at many different pro-life events every year.  She has not only attended but marched at nearly every March for Life.  Vicki is a great asset to Todd because she is very passionate about motivating women and young people to get involved in the pro-life movement.

The U.S Senate seat in Kansas became open when pro-life Senator Sam Brown back announced his retirement in 2010 and a run for Kansas Governor.
